Love Is a Dagger is a commissioned concept poster inspired by the Marvel series Loki, centered around the quote “Love is a dagger.” The design translates this phrase into a symbolic, typographic-driven composition that explores the emotional tension behind it.
At the centre of the poster is a custom-rendered dagger, constructed by referencing multiple weapons associated with Loki throughout the Marvel universe. The main silhouette is inspired by the frost dagger from Thor: The Dark World, used to reflect the emotional pain tied to love and Loki’s fractured relationship with his brother. A subtle crown element is integrated into the composition to represent Loki and Sylvie, highlighting the evolving nature of their connection.
The colour palette of deep green, gold, and black reinforces the characters’ identities while supporting the themes of love, deception, and resilience. Gold introduces a sense of divinity and hope, green adds emotional depth, and black grounds the composition in tension and mystery.
